On National Trails Day, Saturday June 6, 2015, runners will take on the thirteenth annual Rainier to Ruston Rail-Trail Relay and Ultra. The course follows the Foothills Trail from the shoulders of Mt. Rainier to the shores of Puget Sound.  The trail passes through pristine wilderness and historic communities, following the old Northern Pacific railroad grade that once brought settlers and supplies into the west.  The top runners in each division receive the coveted Golden Spike Awards.

Check out a brief history (up to 2012) of the R2R written by ultra runner Craig Romano who ran the 50k in 2011 as part of his training to complete the White River 50 miler at 50 years old. Visit this link! The www.VisitRainier.com website that hosts this article promotes The Mountain and all of its associated happenings and activities.

Ultra runners, here's your chance to set a personal record. This course is almost all downhill and about two thirds of it is on paved trail, roads or sidewalk. Come celebrate National Trails Day with us and set your personal best time ever!
